Happy Easter! I just made a deal with Jess that if I update the blog today, she would do the dishes. It's a pretty sweet deal because the kitchen is quite a disaster after the Easter feast we made. Jess took her first step this weekend on what I hope will become a lifelong journey. She made her first pie from scratch, crust and all. It was a strawberry-rhubarb, and it was delicious! She started on Saturday by making the dough for the crust so that it could sit in the refrigerator overnight. I took a picture of the finished product, and I should really post it on here, because it looked like a textbook pie from a rustic cooking book or something. Not rustic because it was sloppy or anything, but it just wasn't too fussy. There was some pie filling that had boiled over the side of the pan a little and the crust wasn't perfectly shaped. It was perfect and tasted as good as it looked. We also baked a ham and will be eating it for the rest of the week.
This week Jess's belly grew by 13". Just kidding, but her belly keeps getting bigger. We can't wait for our little guy to pop out in a few months. Listening to General Conference this weekend reminded me of how blessed we are to be able to start a family and what an important responsibility we have to do our best to be good parents and good examples to this child and our future children. It's so easy to forget about what's most important in life. It's nice to get to spend a weekend being reminded and have time to hang out and think about it.
Jess is about done cleaning the kitchen, and I think I made a wise trade.
